The Nose Knows: Gourmand
Why do dessert inspired fragrances attract so much attention?
Gourmand perfumes use notes associated with things we can eat, including vanilla, chocolate, caramel, coffee, marshmallow, honey, and pastry.
Our brains recognize many of these aromas from food, memory, and pleasurable experiences. Research suggests that food related odors can engage parts of the brain involved in motivation and reward, although the response varies by person, hunger, experience, and association.
In less scientific terms, you smell like caramel, someone nearby becomes emotionally invested, and suddenly everyone wants to know what you are wearing.
Delicious without surrendering a single bite.
